About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Early Years practitioner to lead a room in a Steiner-inspired setting. The successful candidate will nurture children’s holistic development through imaginative play, creativity, practical activity, and connection with nature.
As Room Lead, you will guide and support your team, plan a rich, rhythm-based curriculum, and create a calm, aesthetically pleasing environment that reflects Waldorf principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a room of children aged 0–6, delivering high-quality care and education
- Plan and implement a Steiner-inspired curriculum focused on play, imagination, and practical activity
- Establish predictable daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms to support children’s wellbeing
- Mentor and support staff within the room, modelling best practice
- Observe, document, and support children’s holistic development
- Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
- Foster strong relationships with parents and carers
- Support seasonal festivals, outdoor learning, and use of natural materials
Person Specification
Essential:
- Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification or equivalent
- Experience working in early years education
- Understanding of child development and play-based learning
- Commitment to Steiner/Waldorf philosophy or willingness to undertake training
- Leadership skills and ability to support a small team
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Desirable:
- Steiner Early Childhood training or experience in a Waldorf-inspired setting
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Experience of outdoor or holistic education
