Job description
A well-established and respected insolvency firm is currently seeking a highly organised and proactive Legal Secretary to join its professional team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist legal environment, supporting solicitors and case handlers in delivering efficient and high-quality legal services.
The Role:
The Legal Secretary will play a key part in the smooth running of the firm’s legal administration. They will be responsible for managing a busy workload of legal documentation, correspondence, and client liaison, ensuring deadlines are met and files are maintained accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents including letters, reports, court forms, and insolvency-specific paperwork.
- Manage diaries, arrange meetings, and organise case files.
- File and maintain up-to-date legal and financial records both digitally and in hard copy.
- Liaise with clients, courts, and third parties professionally and confidentially.
- Monitor deadlines, ensure compliance with court dates and procedural timelines.
- Provide administrative support such as photocopying, scanning, invoicing, and managing post.
- Aiding in the preparation of documents for banks and other financial institutions, including the preparation of corporate tax and VAT returns and develop proficiency in financial analysis, investigations and reporting.
- To clear all review points raised on the work undertaken and update working papers where appropriate.
- To update and manage effective maintenance of electronic and paper case management systems.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience as a legal secretary, ideally within insolvency, litigation, or commercial law.
- Excellent typing and document production skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
